SoCal Scooter news

Well, the countdown to the Vegas Scooter Rally has begun!!! T minus 7 days and counting! For those of you who have been living under a rock, it’s happening on Feb 22-26. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it this year, cuz I’ll be moving into my new house I just bought, that exact same weekend, but I know you all are gonna have lots of fun even if I’m not there, ha ha. All I ask is that you take TONS of pictures for me to be jealous of and post ‘em at!

There’s word in that the Long Beach Classic Scooter Club’s regular monthly ride has been cancelled for this month, due to everyone going to Vegas that weekend. As always, if you want all the LA/OC, regular monthly ride details, go to this webpage: There is one ride happening at least every weekend.

AND, LB and Hard Pack scooterist, Joe Rodriguez, has informed me that he and his band are looking for Lambretta/vintage scooterists and their scoots to be in their home-grown music video, probably on Saturday, March 10th. They are looking to do a late afternoon/sunset shoot, probably at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach. Doubt there will be any money involved, but it’d be nice to support Joe, who has been in the scene and supported it for a long time, and who’s band, D-Strutters, have played at several SoCal scooter rallys, including Swerve N Curve last year...!

AND, everyone knows about the infamous South Bay Scooter Club’s annual SoCAL SLOW RIDE (this year, the 6th Annual one is taking place on Saturday, May 12th). Well, now there are rumors that the Westside’s own Tank Top is putting together a FAST RIDE. Plans are in the works and the tentative date looks like Saturday, June 9th. This date may or may not change, but we wanted to get the word out so folks can start juicing up their scoots.

Also, the SOUTH BAY SCOOTER CLUB will again be participating in the annual South Bay Energy Fair on May 5th. There’ll be all types of alternate energy vehicles, including motorized bicycles, electric scooters and cars, as well as energy saving devices and displays.
