New Pasadena Area Ride - April 28th
NEW PASADENA AREA RIDE – APRIL 28, 2007
Pasadena, CA
This just in from Gena True:
Saturday, April 28, 2007, meet at 11am at Holly Street / Marengo Avenue in front of Pasadena City Hall
(There should be plenty of parking space and a nice shady area with park benches) - I will cover the fees [if any] for the first few parking spaces, that should be enough space, initially
Google map link: http://maps.google.com/?mid=1174793680
Sorry for the last minute post- hopefully someone will be able to attend. My hopes are that this will be the first meet of many. Initially, I'd like to have a 'meet and greet' for 30 minutes or so and then we can discuss our ride options from there (welcome to ideas and other ride leaders). As things start to progress we can make changes and such and let the group form as needed.
This get-together (GTG) is for any and all scooters and their riders- young or old and somewhere in between.
I have never hosted a Scooter event- I have some experience with car shows and such...car clubs...but, I haven't done too much with the Scooter thing- so bare with me. That accompanied with the fact that I have only been in Pasadena, CA for about 6 months or so...
The main idea of this (the first few even) is just to get the word out there, and our presence seen, attract others, and see if we can get a little Pasadena action going--that is open to all types of Scooters.
If you are interested- please reply, email me, or just show up! :) And tell others! :D
My husband and I will be there- two 06 Red Vespa's...and we'll wait a bit and if no one shows- we'll just do our own thing...but, I will keep this up for a while to see if we can get some sort of group forming.
If you are interested or whatever, go ahead and give me some feedback!
Thanks,
Gena

Wrightwood Mountain/Desert Ride - May 19th
WRIGHTWOOD RIDE – MAY 19, 2007
Wrightwood, CA
What: Wrightwood Ride
When: Saturday, May 19th….meet at 10:00am and ride at 10:30ish
Where: Desert Community Bank parking lot; 1261 Highway 2, Wrightwood
We’re putting together an awesome ride! Everyone is welcome! It’ll include riding out to Vincent’s Gap (elevation about 7,000), Devil’s Punchbowl, a stop at the world’s famous Charlie Brown Farms, and then back to Wrightwood for a BBQ at our house. If you haven’t been up in the San Gabriel’s or ridden through the desert, you’re in for a great ride! Where else can you ride 100+ miles and only have ONE light and a couple of stop signs? Total miles are about 100-120 miles. It'll be a long ride so come prepared and wear layers as it gets hot once we hit the desert floor. There’s a gas station in town to fill up before the ride and there’s another one across from Charlie Brown Farms. There’s room in the parking lot for trucks & trailers. My husband has offered to follow us in the truck for emergencies. He'll have the ramp, 2 canyon dancers, and some tie-downs. Oh, and an ice-chest with bottled water. How's that? He’ll even carry your gas can for you!
Rain will either cancel ride or we can probably move it to Sunday, the 20th.
E-mail me if you’d like more info. - Linda Quinn : klquinn797@yahoo.com

This years price is 20 dollars which includes campsite fees, and all the food, and beer and soda at the campsite plus embroidered patch.
FRIDAY APRIL 20 - Meet and Greet - Meet at Zingo's Cafe 3201 Buck Owens Blvd. Ride through Bakersfield leaves at 9 p.m.
SATURDAY APRIL 21 - Meet at Beach Park at 11 a.m. Beach Park is located at 24th Street and Oak Street - Bakersfield, CA. Entrance is on 21st Street. Just off the 99 freeway, downtown/178 west exit. Ride leaves at 1 p.m. We will stop for gas at the edge of town.
Ride to the campground - The ride to the campground is about 60 miles. If you can't make that distance on a tank of gas, you may need to bring a gas can. Bikes must be able to hold 45 mph on the open roads please, otherwise, all bikes are welcome.
Your bike MUST be in good condition as this is a mountain ride. Your brakes and tires must be up to the task. (Not to scare anyone off, this ride is incredibly fun but we will be away from most conveniences and hospitals so we don't want anybody to get hurt due to their bike being in unsafe condition).
You will be allowed to ride at your own skill level. If you aren't as steady through winding roads as other riders, don't sweat it, you can work your way through, we won't leave you on your own. We'll take care of you.
For the rest of the night, we drain kegs, eat hamburgers and hot dogs [I realize some scooterists are vegetarians, if enough plant eaters let us know they are coming, we will try to have some gardenburgers on hand for you, if we don't know you are coming, you'll have to fend for yourself =P ]. The DJ's will crank up the music, don't be afraid to dance. The bathrooms are indoor, lit with running water, there is even a shower!
SUNDAY APRIL 22 - Wake up and get ready for the ride back to town. Ride leaves at 11 a.m. (or as soon as the campsite is cleaned haha). 40 miles through the Kern Canyon along the Killer Kern River back to Beach Park.

If you have a vintage Restored classic scooter, 50's rocket car with a motorcycle motor, a junk Frankenstein Vespa, retro classic piaggio, Norton that rolls up hills!, Honda SS whatever with clubman bars, I guess anything European is alright too. Or any rat trap that you think might make it, as long as you flipped the stock bars upside down, then OK you can come!
Oh, we're cool with the new retro bikes too. Basically this is a two wheel social event and if that sounds like something your into, then ride up and hang for half the day or camp!

This offer really goes out to all clubs who want to participate!
At the bottom! Please read info about parking your car in Los Angeles, campground info, driving your car up and whatever crap I can think of!
Motorcycles meet at Glory.
Ride leaves 12pm sharp (this may change)
Lots of cool stuff to buy and look at! So buy something Dammit!

http://www.glorysales.com
P.S. Please try and have loose $1 and $5 bills, unless you don't mind acorns and pine cones for change.
If you want to cruise or you have an old timer bike, then the scooter ride isn't a bad idea. They'll be taking surface streets all the way up to Angeles Crest Hwy, then straight up to the campsite! Their ride is short, but a little slower!
The motorcycle ride will have some up hill freeway miles!.
Scooters Meet at Eatz Cafe.
Ride leaves at 12noon sharp.
This place takes "cash only" and please save some change for us at the campground, bust your twenty's here!!
Eatz Café, 3207 Los Feliz Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca 90039-1508
Need a place to stash your truck? Keep reading below......
Wanna ride faster? Then the motorcycle ride might be for you, just don't get in any ones way! Some freeway miles and "yes" a fuel stop before entering Angeles Crest Hwy and up to the campground... We know you can give them a run for their money..
Sunday June 10th return home.
Ride to Newcombs Ranch for breakfast! Then ride home
Important! Please read before you jump in your car, truck or bike!
Bandido Camp Grounds
This is a really cool camp ground that holds 130 campers. The site has 4 bathrooms, but no running water! Even though we will have bottled water, it's not a bad idea to bring a quart of water for yourself! If you need a bathroom with running water Newcombs ranch is open until 10pm and is only couple of miles away from the campsite!
There are many little fire rings at this campsite. I would suggest everyone to bring a small fire log with them! A small log will go a long way! Do not bring a chainsaw to dice fallen trees! That is not allowed at this park! Twigs and sticks are Ok.
Also you'll need camping gear, remember wild animals live here! Use common sense and keep your food out of your tent!
We'll provide firewood for the main camp fire only and power for music!
...Scroll to the bottom for camp directions...
Parking your truck/trailer before the ride up:
I understand some people will truck their bikes down, I can only suggest parking your car/truck at the Glendale metrolink parking lot. It has video surveillance and 24 hour security patrol. I would think this might be better than leaving your car in the streets of Los Angeles.
I also suggest you to unload your bike around the corner, then drive your vehicle into the parking lot. This would save you any harassment from the security guards and the parking lot allows 72 hour parking. So your good for the whole weekend! Heads up! Only two of the three parking lots are 72 hour free parking. Also this is nearby Eatz, the Scooter Meeting spot.
Glendale Metrolink parking lot - 400w Cerritos Ave., Glendale, CA 91204
People driving up to the campsite in trucks/cars and early birds!
t's a group campground, that has limited parking space! I would suggest people try and carpool together! When the Campground lot is full, we will still allow people to enter to drop off their gear and supplies. But you will have to park your vehicle at the second parking lot, that is a long walk away! So riding your scooter/ motorcycle will pay off!
Showing up early won't get you early access, but it's not a bad idea to beat traffic! We won't allow people to enter the campground until one or both groups show up, except people bringing in Rally supplies etc...
I can suggest people to wait at New Combs Ranch Dinner. It's three miles before the camp road turn off and it's the only restaurant/sports bar on the Angeles Crest Hwy! It's a real nice place to chill, with pool tables, food, Large T.V. and cool things to look at. Once you see the bikes and scooters you can follow them to the camp grounds, you'll hear and see them pass by!
How to get to the Camp Ground
Go North on the Glendale (2) Freeway Go East (right) on the Foothill (210) Freeway Exit at the first off-ramp, La Canada/Flintridge, Angeles Crest Highway Turn Left off the ramp and go 27 miles into Angeles National Forest. Newcomb's Ranch will appear on your left side.
The campsite is 2-3 miles pass Newcombs, look for the small sign! You make a left at the sign. Drive down 2 miles pass the Christian camp (don't enter their road). After that the campsite won't be hard to miss! It's the first campsite on your left!
Newcomb's website has a map, You'll pass one ranger information station on the way up. You can stop there to look at their map. You'll be looking for Bandido camp grounds.
Newcombs website has a map and directions: www.newcombsranch.com

TEMECULA AREA RIDE – JUNE 23, 2007
Temecula, CA
From Matt Gordon, one of the organizers of the Temecula Wine Ride: The Temecula Area Ride will be on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007.
Join numerous other scooterists for the Temecula area's fifth annual ride, to take place on June 23rd, 2007. This year is more about RIDING, than raffling, or relaxing! There will be no show-n-shine....just show-up, and go-up! This year's event will be quite different than other Temecula area rides, but should present a memorable day of riding with other like minded scooterists.
Make certain your scooter and your keister are up to a total of 110+ miles from near sea-level, to 5,500 feet and back again, through various regions in and around the greater Temecula area. This will be a RIDE to remember and one of the best days of riding of the season.
Meet-up at the Starbucks at Temecula's Tower Plaza, at the corner of Ynez Road, and Rancho California Roads (look for the big American flag) for a departure time of 10:30 am. Please be gassed-up and ready to go for the first leg of the day's adventure.
All scooters should be well serviced, reliable and capable of a long day of riding through different types of conditions. Vintage scooter riders should bring additional oil, cables etc. and make certain your bike is up to the task. The provision of a support vehicle is not guaranteed.
Riders should be prepared for the same. You will encounter some mountain riding, as well desert terrains. Ride at your own pace, and at your own risk.
This is NOT an individual, club or shop organized event, it's simply a group of friends old and new, and not-yet-made, meeting to enjoy their scooters individually by riding to the same areas together. Participate at your own risk, and at your own pace. The responsibility for your own safety, proper and legal riding practices, sober riding, observance of all traffic laws, DMV and insurance regulations are the sole obligation of each individual participant-rider and each individual passenger.
See you in Temecula on June 23rd. Check all the usual places for updated information as the date draws nearer!

HEDONISM – APRIL 20-22, 2007
Bakersfield, CA
Sponsored by the Unforgiven Scooter Club
ITINERARY & LODGING INFO:

L.A. Clubs! We are trying to make this a participation rally, so we ask all motorcycle/scooter clubs to sponsor a game by organizing it. Bungee runs, wheel chair races, toss the mod, whatever you can think of! We'd love to add your club banner or link here!
4659 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca 90027 - (323)644-5679
http://www.glorysales.com
